Apple is Working on New High-End Noise-Cancelling Headphones

Apple is working on new high-end noise-cancelling headphones following the success of its AirPods earbuds. According to a new report, with the launch new wireless headphones, the company is planning a push into the high end of the market.

The tech giant is working on new over-ear headphones that would eliminate ambient noise, according to people familiar with the product’s development.

Apple could debut the high-end headphones as early as the end of this year but has faced development problems that could ultimately delay the release to 2019, according to the people.

This is not the first time Apple is facing challenges, the company has experienced similar problems during the development of its HomePod, including multiple redesigns, the people said.

HomePod got successful reviews this year and besides Apple is already working to develop other audio accessories such as upgrades to AirPods that include water-resistance and a new wireless chip that enables “Hey Siri” voice.

The report says, Apple is working on new high-end noise-cancelling headphones that will have Apple’s W1 wireless chip and connect to iPhones and iPads more smoothly than other devices and interestingly, it will carry the Apple logo.

The company will not directly report AirPods sales, instead, it will roll out them into its “Other Products” category along with Apple TV, Beats headphones, Apple Watch, and other accessories.

Apple has not unveiled the pricing details but considering the high-end noise-cancelling feature, the headphones likely won’t be cheap. As the headphones are wireless, owners wouldn’t need to plug them into a phone or player.
