A 9-year-old, Jacob Thompson, who inspired thousands of people around the world to outpour Christmas cards as he had long been battling with deadly cancer, has died on Sunday. his family posted on Facebook that the little boy passed away within four years after getting diagnosed with the Stage 4 Neuroblastoma, which spread all through his head and hip.
When Jacob’s family got to know that he had just a month to live, they immediately planned to fast forward the Christmas by requesting people to outpour Jacob Christmas cards, as he might not be in the world to celebrate Christmas anymore. And the boy received thousands of Christmas cards by his charmed fans all over the world.
Michelle Thompson Simard, Jacob’s mother and Roger Guay, his father created a heartbreaking page as ‘GoFundMe’ last month for sharing Jacob’s story. The family after receiving wishes thanked everyone with their kindness, saying that Jacob’s story will hopefully raise awareness of neuroblastoma that affects usually young children.
the family posted on the page that, “Each and every person who sent Jacob a Christmas card, a gift, a Facebook message or video, or a prayer made a difference in the final days of his life. You brought Jacob joy, and you brought us all optimism for the future. Thank you for taking the time, and taking an interest in our sweet boy’s journey. It is tragic, and more research and resources are needed to continue fighting for a cure.”
