The biggest five upcoming food trends have been released by annual Waitrose Food and Drink Report of 2017-18. This annual food and drink report majorly gives an indication of what could be the eating habits look like in the nest closed year.
This research combined the findings obtained from a survey of consumers in number of around 2000, the predictions from in-house experts and Waitrose sales statistics to analyze the drinking, eating, cooking and shopping habits of people.
The Waitrose Food and Drink Report predicted last year that lighter eating, vegetable-flavored yoghurt, Hawaiian poke, kits gourmet meal, watermelon water, botanical cocktails as well as the extreme indulges would some of the big-hits of 2017, while most of the items from the list proved to be popular.
And now, the Waitrose Food and Drink Report released a list of predicted food trends to be hit in 2018, some of them are described below.
the list includes ‘Japanese dude food’, while Waitrose explains about the dish as, “Whether it’s yakitori skewered chicken or deep-fried tofu in broth, the trend will combine the hearty ‘dude food’ of the southern US states with the unctuous, rich, and surprising flavors of after-hours Tokyo.”
The next is ‘Indian street food’, full of grilled, seared or smoked delicacies with heavy sauces. Report says, “The cuisine lends itself to hybrids, such as spiced burgers or lamb keema tacos, its Indian food like you’ve never seen it.”
Another one is the ‘fourth meal’, for which the report describes as, “This is not about gluttony, rather it is about adapting our eating schedules to our busy lives.”
