Nowadays, almost everyone knows about the term “privacy on the internet is a myth,” which is not exactly true, because there are certain procedures or certain mobile applications that have secure chatting options. Here, we’re not talking about BlackBerry Messenger, who is renowned for its privacy and encrypted messages.
BlackBerry Messenger should also get credit for creating the craze of encrypted messaging among people, but it is not for all.
As the day pass, people are becoming more concern about their security on both the worlds they are living in, the real and the virtual worlds. But, mostly people are falling for the applications which cloak a particular message with an extra layer of security, which have some leaks that are not forgiven at all.
There are many encrypted chat apps present which uses the end-to-end encryption, meaning it only viewable by the sender and the recipient, and preventing all sorts of eavesdroppers such as the operator.
According to Nicholas Weaver, a senior staff researcher at the ICSI, Berkeley, says Signal or WhatsApp are one of the apps which use a variety of cryptographic protocols and algorithms to prevent eavesdroppers. There is one more suggestion, never believe the term “Military-grade” claims, because military-grade cryptography are not for public uses, so always go for independent audits, such as the WhatsApp, who offers Open Whisper Systems to common people for better end-to-end encryptions.
The most vital fact is, before downloading any app do some research behind it, unless using the regular ones.
