After almost the second-half of its EcoSports model, Ford finally launched the EcoSport facelift last week in Los Angeles. With fresh design, competent engines, dynamic driving qualities, and a smart price tag, Ford EcoSports has started taking the market by storm. With revived design and fresh look, the new 2017 EcoSport has been revealed few days ago at the 2017 LA Auto Show. However, under an exceptional change, Ford has declared the new 2017 EcoSports facelift to be manufactured in India for the US market.
By embracing the ‘Make in India’ programme, the American carmaker Ford recently publicised the reports of the US-spec Ford EcoSport to be manufactured in India. As per the company, the new EcoSports will be manufactured at its Ford facility in Chennai and will be shipped to the US.
The exporting India-made Ford SUVs to US has come under the attack from the newly elected president of the USA, Donald Trump. Trump has issued an order for shifting the production of small cars from the US to Mexico and to avoid the ongoing circumstance of the new presidency, Ford decided to import new 2017 EcoSports from India to US.
Speaking to a local newspaper, the Marketing Manager for Ford SUVs, Michael O’Brien said, “EcoSport will be built in six different locations across the world. The cars will be sold in 100 markets. The agenda of manufacturing the new EcoSports models will be carried out in US’s Ford Facilities and will be shipped into other global markets. For the US market, EcoSport will be manufactured from Asia Pacific, and we will sell it here in the US.”
The production of EcoSports will be carried out in Ford’s Chennai facility and will hit the markets of US in 2018 in the US. Since 2013, Ford is manufacturing its EcoSport model in India alongside Brazil, Thailand and Russia.
The new decision of Ford to import EcoSports models from India to US is likely to be a helpful choice for the company. The new manufacturing planning will ease up the production of the new car, which eventually help the company to avoid the attack of President-elect Donald Trump.
