Mars Orbiter Mission is one of the biggest ventures of Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) that was initiated on 24th September 2014. After the successful launch of Mangalyaan from earth, India becomes the first nation to put the spaceship around Mars in its first attempt.
Mars Orbiter Mission (MOM) is the first interplanetary mission to the government and is working efficiently since last two years. Though the designing of Mangalyaan was outlined for six months by its onboard fuel, surprisingly, the satellite is still in functioning mode since more than two years and has kept on transmitting data of Red Planet to the on-ground systems. After the huge success of Mars Orbiter Mission-1, now ISRO is gearing up to kick start the venture for Mars Orbiter Mission-2 and start seeking proposals for it.
In order to make its first interplanetary research and operation bigger, Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) started inviting scientific suggestions for the Mars Orbiter Mission-2. As per the announcement of the Union Ministry on Friday, ISRO has put the reports of its first Mars mission at Rajya Sabha and said to be highly successful as it is still working in space. In a printed response to a question put in Rajya Sabha, Jitendra Singh, the union minister of state who is working the Prime Minister’s Office for the department of space, reported that Mars Orbiting Mission-2 is in progress and the pattern, goals, and scientific experiments for the formulation is on hold.
While representing his comment on the second Mars Mission of India, Jitendra Singh said, MOM-1 has completed two successful years in space and still transmitting data and pictures from Red Planet to the space agency. He also officially announced the invitations for scientific proposals for MOM-2. He through an Announcement of Opportunity (AO) seeks proposal for scientific tests and trials for Mars Orbiters Mission-2.
In 25 months of orbiting Mars, MOM-1 has done a number of noteworthy experiments and had sent some of the most precious information of Mars. The discovery of the old Martian atmosphere and the Mar’s ice spread changes during summer on the Northern Hemisphere has also been carried out by this first Mars mission of India.
