Microsoft has announced today its new joint venture with Qualcomm, under which it will bring Windows 10 on ARM-processors. Microsoft, while announcing its new partnership confirmed that Windows 10 will now be arriving on ARM-Processors. In addition to the media announcement, Microsoft also published an official blog, where it confirmed that soon, the users of Windows 10 would be capable of experiencing their desktop apps on tablets and smartphones, running on Qualcomm processors.
Through the new initiative, Microsoft now will work with the America-based Multinational Qualcomm. The aim of this joint venture is to make the 32-bit Win32 compatible to ARM devices running on Windows 10 OS in 2017. The new announcement has brought some a significant transformation to the existing ARM strategy of the company.
Back in 2012, Microsoft promised to bring cross-platform compatibility to its Operating System which it actually couldn’t deliver. But now, through the announcement, it cleared how its apps and OS will be compatible to the cross-platforms.
In its official Blog Post, Microsoft confirmed the reports of its collaboration with Qualcomm which reads: “Through the partnership with Qualcomm, the company will enable other Hardware associates of Microsoft to build a range of Windows 10 powered by the new Qualcomm Snapdragon Processors that run x86 Win32 and universal Windows apps, including Adobe Photoshop, Microsoft Office, and popular Windows games.”
As per the reports of The Verge, the first set of gadgets from Microsoft and Qualcomm endeavour are likely to arrive in the market by the end of 2017 and will begin with the compatibility of Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processors.
On this context, Terry Myerson, the Executive Vice President of Microsoft for Windows and Devices Group, reported to The Verge, “the reason behind introducing Windows 10 Will on ARM-Processors is to deliver a better battery life and great cellular connectivity on Qualcomm devices, which is something that the market is consistently demanding.
With the collaboration of Qualcomm, world’s most influential and leading 3G and next-generation mobile technology provider are going to integrate Windows 10 Will On ARM-Processors.
