A US-based brewing company, Anheuser-Busch is ready to brew its first brand of beer, ‘Budweiser’ on Red Planet. the company is upholding its commitment and has made an announcement earlier this year at the event saying that, “South by Southwest that it would create a beer suitable for drinking in space… and when people get there they will toast on Budweiser…”
Budweiser’s vice president of marketing, Ricardo Marques said that, “Budweiser is always pushing the boundaries of innovation and we are inspired by the collective American Dream to get to Mars. We are excited to begin our research to brew beer for the red planet.”
The giant brewing company, Anheuser-Busch is also planning for sending 20 seeds of barley, which is a core ingredient needed in the recipe of Budweiser. these 20 seeds of Budweiser barley packaged in two Space Tango Cube Labs, which are shoebox-sized features hosting small-scale experiments, are going to be delivered to the International Space Station (ISS).
The seeds will be sent by the upcoming SpaceX CRS i.e. SpX-13 cargo supply mission, which is a Commercial Resupply Service mission of ISS that has been set to be launched on 4th December 2017 from the Cape Canaveral Air Force Station in Florida.
The barley seeds will be there in orbit for around 30 days to observe how they respond in the microgravity environment until being brought back to the earth to analyzed by the Budweiser’s ‘innovation team’.
